Daddy Yankee Retires From Music To Concentrate On His Faith

Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez (born February 3, 1977), known professionally as Daddy Yankee, is a Puerto Rican rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor who rose to worldwide prominence in 2004 with the song "Gasolina". He’s dubbed the "King of Reggaeton". He is often cited as an influence by other Hispanic urban performers. He scheduled his retirement for December 2023 after completing his "La Meta" tour in Puerto Rico. He announced his retirement and stated that he was doing so to concentrate on his new found faith in Christ.

While announcing his retirement on stage, he said: "I realized something the bibles says: “For what shall profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

So, tonight, I recognize and I am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Jesus lives in me and that I will live for him".

He is well known for the 2017 hit (Despacito), a song he did with Latin pop singer Luis Fonsi. Let’s keep him in our prayers.
