In the wake of the 6 August 2025 helicopter crash that claimed the lives of several high-profile Ghanaians, including Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has urged the public not to dismiss all prophecies as false.

Speaking on 11 August, Bagbin noted that while some prophets may have questionable motives, many deliver genuine warnings. “I have personally been treated many times because I listened to prophecies. I do not take them lightly because that is their domain,” he said (pulse.com.gh, modernghana.com).

He stressed the importance of respecting spiritual expertise just as one would respect parliamentary or professional authority. In response, the Presidency has advised that prophecies of national importance be submitted to the Office of the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations to ensure they are responsibly vetted and acted upon.

Bagbin’s comments invite reflection on the role of spiritual guidance in public life — reminding Ghanaians that discernment, not outright dismissal, is key when it comes to prophecy.
